The risk of hail up to the size of baseballs is stretching from Wisconsin to Texas today! A line of storms is expected to spread across most of the Mississippi River Valley, with the main threat for hail in the early afternoon as the storms begin to initialize!

An enhanced to moderate risk of severe weather is in place across eastern Iowa and northern Illinois today, while a slight risk of severe thunderstorms extends across portions of the Southern Plains, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The most significant severe weather threat will unfold across the Midwest and Great Lakes, where widespread severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon, evening, and overnight. Areas at greatest risk include Iowa, northern Missouri, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and northern Indiana.
These storms are capable of producing violent, long-track tornadoes, widespread destructive wind damage exceeding 70 mph, and very large hail. Multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms could develop, creating a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation across the region.
Residents in the affected areas should closely monitor forecasts, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to take immediate shelter if severe weather develops. The threat is expected to continue well into the nighttime hours, increasing the danger for those caught unprepared.
