What a Magical run for the Oklahoma baseball team - winning 10 of its last 11 games - including two of three from No. 5 North Carolina (13-2 tonight) to capture the third NCAA championship in program history!
Coach Skip Johnson's Sooners eliminated conference champions Georgia Tech, Kansas and Georgia en route to winning their first MCWS crown since 1994.
Shortstop Jaxon Willits earned MVP honors, leading a relentless OU offensive assault by going 10 for 23 with four doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Kyle Branch had six RBIs in the deciding game three of the Champ Series.
The Sooners finish 44-24 after finishing 11th in the final SEC standings.

Well, it's going to be a Monday battle for the title, as OU falls to UNC 6-2 in Game 2 ... Champ Series tied 1-1 with a national championship on the line!

OMAHA -- North Carolina had won 20 straight games when scoring two or more runs in the opening inning this season.
Until Today.
While the Tar Heels managed three first-inning runs vs. Oklahoma starter Cord Rager, that was all they would get against the freshman hurler and two OU relievers - as the Sooners rallied with seven unanswered runs en route to an 9-3 victory in the opening game of the MCWS Champ Series.
Catcher Deiten Lachance hit a pair of home runs to lead OU's 14-hit offensive assault.
Coach Skip Johnson's squad is now one victory away from the third national title in OU baseball history. The second game of the best of three series is Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The opening game of the MCWS Champ Series featuring OU vs. UNC has been moved to a 2 p.m. start on Saturday (due to the threat of inclement weather in Omaha)....

Oklahoma blasts five home runs and freshman pitcher Nick Wesloski was stellar on the mound to help lead the Sooners to an 11-4 win over George - and a spot in the MCWS Champ Series this weekend!

vs. Georgia in the MCWS seminfinals tonight at 6 p.m. ... OU is starting another freshman pitcher on the mound — Bring it Nick Wesloski!!!! A win and Oklahoma is on to the Championship Series!
