As students head back to school, the Edinburgh Fire Department wishes everyone a safe, successful, and exciting school year!

❗ Don't be alarmed! ❗
You'll see Edinburgh Fire Department Firefighters and Paramedics at East Side Elementary during morning drop-off as we help welcome students back for the first day of school. We're excited to greet everyone and help kick off a great school year!

🚸 Back-to-School Safety Reminders:
• Slow down in school zones and obey all posted speed limits.
• Never pass a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended and red lights flashing.
• Put your phone down and eliminate distractions while driving.
• Watch carefully for children at crosswalks, bus stops, and in neighborhoods.
• Parents, please be patient during drop-off and pick-up as traffic may be heavier than usual.
• Students should use crosswalks, look left-right-left before crossing, and stay alert by keeping their heads up and phones away.

Let's all do our part to ensure every student arrives safely and has an amazing school year.

The Fall Festival is next month and you can be part of one of the longest running traditions -- Edinburgh Lions Club Prince & Princess contest!
👑Registration begins Monday, August 17 at the John R. Drybread Community Center.
💰All money raised goes back into the community supporting local programs (Dollars for Scholars, food pantry, eyeglasses, Cheer Fund, athletics, scouts, etc).

The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for thunderstorms on Saturday, with isolated severe storms possible across central Indiana, including Bartholomew County.

• Isolated severe thunderstorms
• Damaging wind gusts
• Frequent lightning
• Heavy rainfall

🌧️ Heavy Rain Potential
Rainfall totals of up to 2 inches are possible from Friday night through Sunday, with the heaviest rain expected on Saturday. Bartholomew County is currently included in a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall, meaning localized flooding is possible, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

✅ Now is the time to prepare:
• Stay weather aware throughout the day Saturday.
• Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including CodeRED, Wireless Emergency Alerts, and NOAA Weather Radio.
• Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
• Secure outdoor items that could be blown around by strong winds.
