Check out this awesome raised plant bed I found today! Nature is awesome! 😉

This deck was in awesome shape and looked great! However, keep in mind that decks do not last as long as houses. They need regular maintenance and can generally last between 10-20 years if kept up properly, giving you plenty of great mornings with your coffee or family barbecues.

Things aren't always as they seem! 🤔 Half the siding on this home is new fiber cement siding and half is old masonite siding that needs to be replaced. (Can you find the fiber cement siding piece? It's all the way at the top in the second photo, barely in the frame.)

It is important to have good drainage systems to move water away from your foundation. This is from a house with no gutters and sub-par grading. Over time, the ground will constantly expand and contract with excessive moisture - and that can crack your foundation. Termites and fungus love moisture too! Make sure that water is moving AWAY from your home to protect your foundation!

Fiber cement siding is a great protection against moisture and rot. However, on areas of the house that don't get a lot of sun, you can get a bit of mildew buildup on the exterior. Not to worry, this is mostly a cosmetic thing that can be fixed easily and quickly with a cleaner and brush. 🧼🧹☀️

Yikes! 😬 A common defect I find in freshly painted houses are outlets that are loose or completely disconnected from the junction box in the wall. Make sure those suckers are completely screwed in and attached securely!

Uh oh! You don't want trees touching your roof and gutters - this can give easy access to critters that you definitely don't want sharing your home!
