Telling the story of how young people in SNCC united with local communities in the Deep South to build a grassroots movement for voting rights and change.
🎉We wanted to celebrate the wonderful Jennifer Lawson by bringing back one of our favorite videos!!
Jennifer first joined the as a teenager during the 1963 Children's March, where young people courageously challenged segregation despite arrests, fire hoses, and police intimidation. She later became a field secretary, organizing in Lowndes County, Alabama, helping build Black political power through grassroots organizing. An artist as well as an organizer, she created some of the iconic Black Panther imagery and educational materials used by the Lowndes County Freedom Organization!!
