NOW ON SALE! BEAR GHOST - Sat Oct 3 @ MOTORCO
with SARAH & THE SAFE WORD / SPACEMAN BOB
GET TIX @ motorcomusic.com/event/bear-ghost
"BIOS ARE FOR THE WEAK!" Bear Ghost cried as they meekly tapped out a Spotify bio, pausing every minute or so to recover from a productive sob. Productive in the sense of how many fluid ounces of mucin, glucose, sodium, etc. they produced, but little else. Their fingers pruned to the bone from the tears veiling the keyboard they feverishly clicked away at.
The room was dim. An overhead light flickered and danced to an eclectic rhythm of a song that had not yet been written. But would be written. By Bear Ghost, probably.
"Why must you torture yourselves?" mewled their manager, fearing for their sanity as they neared day 11 without sleep. His fingers pruned to the bone from his fondest hobby: sundrying plums with his bare hands.
Bear Ghost rose to their feet, eyes swollen. They looked calm now. Resigned but resolute. "How else will they know?" they pleaded, faltering as their knees begged to give way. "How else will they know that Bear Ghost is an Adventure Rock band that fuses fun and quirky musicianship with complex melodies, phat harmonies, heavy riffitude, and pop structure to deliver a sound purposely crafted to fill all booties, tall and small, with righteous boogie?"
The room was still, but undeniably changed. The air somehow tingling. Light and effervescent with the anticipation of something new, something fresh, something that could maybe, just maybe, save the whole wide world.
"You did it," choked their stunned manager. "I'll get the president on the phone."

NOW ON SALE! feeble little horse - Sun Jul 12 @ MOTORCO
GET TIX @ motorcomusic.com/event/feeble-little-horse
feeble little horse is naturally delighted to present their third full-length LP, bitknot. The album was written, arranged, produced, and recorded by Sebastian Kinsler, Lydia Slocum, and Jake Kelley across their respective homes in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A spirited investigation into the unnatural space created between human nature and a culture of convenience, a synthesis of dirt and digital, bitknot by feeble little horse creates a language wherein one can re-imbue a sanctity of interdependence away from consumptive “self-sufficiency” and materialism. “The album art is based on the coincidental core memory matrix, which was used in old computers to store memory / access information using 0s and 1s. Each core, or ‘bit,’ is accessed through the grid of wires, like a knot that stores secret details and memories.” bitknot asks that we find new modes of being through this grid, entrusting one another with the collaborative construction of these knots. This negotiation with an ever-developing hybrid reality is expertly exemplified in the album’s production — the buoyancy of Kinsler’s arrangements provide a perfectly balanced surface tension for the weight of Slocum’s meandering introspection as they playfully harmonize against saccharine hooks, walls of noise, a supercharged car battery’s worth of synths and samples dropped in the ocean of their guitar-driven songwriting framework, and some of Kelley’s most laser-focused drums to date to create a sonic chimera that is as likely to be found nascently developing in the early aughts as some unknown, chromatic future.
Rhymes written with sidewalk chalk that refuse to be erased in the Anthropocene’s acid rain of destructive relationships, Herbert Marcuse’s One-Dimensional Man manifest through the spirit of a young woman born in the shadow of the Steel City’s industrial ghosts, a study of the clumsy alchemy of IRL and WWW — it is within these rhizomatic contradictions that bitknot proliferates.

NOW ON SALE! CHANEL BEADS - Sun Oct 11 @ MOTORCO
GET TIX @ motorcomusic.com/event/chanel-beads
with MECHATOK / CAR CULTURE
Chanel Beads — the project of New York-based musician Shane Lavers — announces his debut album, Your Day Will Come (out 4/19 on Jagjaguwar), and shares the lead single/video, “Idea June.” Your Day Will Come marks Lavers’ arrival as a new force in experimental music. Throughout the album, Lavers captures the many contradictions of modern existence and the strange infiniteness of the digital world. Though he incorporates the scrappy sonics of post-punk, the gripping sentimentality of pop tunes, and the spectral artifice of electronic music, he blurs lines through unconventional song structures that build into transcendental climaxes. As he intentionally prints his songs down to embed fried artifacts and ghostly remains, the resulting songs have a time-collapsing quality, both transitory and timeless.
