Join us next month for a two-part "B**r 101" series in collaboration with Ska! Participants ages 21+ will learn the basic science behind making b**r and taste different varieties. Do you always find yourself fiddling with the closest trinket? Join us for Teen Advisory Group on October 14th to make your very own fidget toys. Whether you make one of our ideas or something of your own, you will be able to take home a fun and unique fidget that will keep your hands busy!

Banned Books Week is officially here now (October 4 – 10), but libraries celebrate and support your freedom to read every day! Let's talk about our favorite "banned books" at our non-traditional book club on Tuesday, October 20 from 6-7:30pm at Bread Downtown. Pre-registration required- join us!

It's spooky season and we're hosting two spooky(ish) author talks in partnership with Maria's on October 9th. Annette McGivney & Betsy Gaines Quammen will speak about their new books, Plastic Shaman: The True Story of a Deadly Self-Help Retreat and America's Misguided Quest for Wellness and This Haunted Land: Reckoning with Ghosts and the Stories That Shape America, both recently published by Torrey House Press. Join us!

Next Wednesday, October 7th, join us at The Hive along with special facilitator Geneva Toland. We'll explore the question 'Is a Poem Ever "Done"?" - How do you know when a poem is done, and ready to be shared with the world? We will explore the art of tinkering, and the intuitive feel of reaching "doneness." See you there!

Registration is now open for our Japanese Tea Ceremony on October 24th! Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Sochi Nomoto, Japanese tea ceremony teacher, will teach us about the tea ceremony's history, philosophy and wellness qualities. Participants will watch a ceremony, learn how to make matcha tea properly, and enjoy a Japanese sweet with matcha.
