At some point being “the one who can handle it” stops being a compliment and starts becoming a workload.

So maybe the next level isn’t proving how much we can handle.

Maybe it’s getting really good at saying:

I know how to do it. That doesn’t mean it has to be me.

I wanted to be my own boss.

Which is adorable.

Turns out I work for the clients.
The calendar.
The bank account.
Payroll.
Deadlines.
QuickBooks.
My employees.
The phone.
And whatever tiny emergency has decided it is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD today.

But here’s the weird part…

I still wouldn’t trade it.

Because somewhere underneath all those bosses is the fact that we built this thing.

And that part never gets old.

A clean kitchen you didn’t clean.
Plans getting canceled.
Fresh sheets.
A full night’s sleep.
And nobody saying, “Mom, where’s my…?”

And God forbid you tell me I should be proud of myself.

We went on a little field trip to Telluride this week to check in on some very important closets.

Freshly installed and looking DAMN good.

One dressed in Lummia Vanilla Orchid High Gloss — bright, polished, and unapologetically luxe.

The other went moody with Lummia Camera Obscura in a matte finish — rich, dramatic, and sexy as hell.

Two completely different personalities.
Both HIGH luxury.
And one very happy family.

And getting older has made me far less interested in waiting for permission.

If I want something built, I build it.
