Love outdoor learning, gardens, science, and hands-on education? The SOIL Lab Education Facilitator will serve at the SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab in Durango, supporting field trips, community events, garden care, aquaponics education, and the development of The SOIL Hub.

Could your organization benefit from hosting an AmeriCorps member? Team Up AmeriCorps Host Site applications are open for the 2026–2027 program year. Members serve directly with local organizations in southwest Colorado to help expand or implement programs and projects.

Team Up acts as the rural intermediary, managing the federal grant through AmeriCorps and Serve Colorado and taking on much of the administrative and financial responsibility.
Host Sites provide meaningful service opportunities where members can build professional skills, strengthen local organizations, and support people to thrive.

This summer, Team Up Southwest is partnering with Durango Treasures and Twilight Toys to support the Teaming Up for Summer Scholarship Program.

From May through August, shoppers can add $1, $5, or $10 to their purchase at either location to help connect local kids with summer program scholarships across La Plata County.

It’s an easy way to support unique local businesses while helping more kids access safe, enriching summer opportunities.

Next time you’re shopping for toys, gifts, souvenirs, or something special downtown, stop by Durango Treasures or Twilight Toys and ask to add a donation at checkout.

Teen Hangout Night is a collaborative effort created by the Safe Spaces Action Team with Team Up and local youth-serving organizations. Our goal is to offer teens consistent, accessible weekend spaces where they can unwind, connect with friends, meet new people, and enjoy free snacks in a casual, low-pressure environment. Teen Hangout Night was created through the Safe Spaces Action Team with one clear goal: give Cortez middle and high schoolers a place that feels good to walk into—safe, welcoming, and genuinely fun.
It’s designed to be one of the most fun and safe weekend options in Cortez for teens to relax, be themselves, and connect with friends—without pressure, judgment, or “one more thing” to perform. For parents, it’s a consistent, supervised space you can feel good about, built to meet a real need in our community.

Teen Hangout Night fue creada a través del equipo de acción de Espacios Seguros con un objetivo claro: ofrecer a los estudiantes de secundaria y bachillerato de Cortez un lugar al que se sienta agradable entrar: seguro, acogedor y genuinamente divertido. Está diseñado para ser una de las opciones de fin de semana más divertidas y seguras en Cortez para que los adolescentes puedan relajarse, ser ellos mismos y conectar con sus amigos, sin presiones, juicios ni "una cosa más" que hacer. Para los padres, es un espacio constante y supervisado que te puede gustar, diseñado para satisfacer una necesidad real en nuestra comunidad.
