Meet our General Manager and book buyer Jeanne!! Jeanne has been with Maria's Bookshop for over twenty years, and is a huge part of what makes our bookstore so special. β₯οΈ
Besides managing staff and floor operations, Jeanne is the person who curates all of our adult book selections. This takes a lot of work! She keeps track of all the new releases we bring in every Tuesday (usually over 50 books a week π±), researches what books are popular, and makes sure that we offer a variety of more "underground" but excellent books.
Thank you Jeanne for everything you do!!

All of these books are available online through our website or in-store at Maria's Bookshop.
We are also able to offer these audiobooks through , who partners with independent bookstores and gives them a portion of audiobook sales! They are a great alternative to audible and offer DRM-free audio books!

Say hello to Kurt!
Kurt has been a bookseller at Maria's Bookshop for two years, and before that he was a teacher at Durango High School, so many of you might recognize him!
Kurt enjoys reading primarily non-fiction and historical fiction, so if you need recommendations from those categories, he's your guy!!
We will be hosting an event with Pete McBride on Tuesday, June 9th at 6pm at the Durango Public Library about his new book "Witness to Water!" Pete is a National Geographic filmmaker and photographer who has traveled to over 75 countries on assignment. His most recent National Geographic film was nominated for an Emmy for best nature documentary!!
In "Witness to Water" he documents his exploration of the Colorado River throughout his lifetime. It is a story of both the river's grandeur as well as its exploitation, and is "the story of a river that no longer reaches the sea, and a powerful reminder of the fragile natural systems we too often take for granted."
We are very excited for this event, and you definitely don't want to miss it!
