Autumn can be a great time to notice things about a home that may be less obvious during warmer, drier months.
Cooler temperatures and wetter weather can reveal drainage concerns, drafts around windows and doors, roof and gutter issues, heating performance, and even changing driveway or road conditions. Keep an eye on these details when touring homes this season. They can help you make a more informed decision before you buy.

The rain these past few days has been WILD! We’ve seen some of the best thunderstorms we’ve had in ages, and while our corner of the Southwest can certainly use the moisture, heavy rain can also mean runoff, pooling water, and potential flooding around your home.
A few simple things can help when the rain really starts coming down:
- Keep gutters and downspouts clear of leaves and debris
- Make sure downspouts direct water away from your foundation
- Clear debris from drains, culverts, and areas where water naturally flows
- Keep an eye out for pooling water around your home and property
- Check landscaping and grading for areas that may be directing runoff toward the house
And when those skies start looking like this, it never hurts to bring in the patio furniture and keep an eye on the forecast!
