Durango’s favorite fall tradition 🤠
Today, downtown Durango looked a little more like the Wild West as horses, cowboys, cowgirls, wagons, and local ranchers took over Main Avenue for the annual Durango Cowboy Gathering Parade.
And of course, Colorado Trails Ranch joined in the fun!
The Cowboy Gathering celebrates the Western heritage that is still very much alive here in Southwest Colorado. It’s one of those weekends that brings the whole community together and reminds us why we love calling this place home.
Horses in the streets, cowboys in town, crisp fall air, and the San Juan Mountains as the backdrop. It doesn’t get much more Colorado than this.
If you’re planning a fall trip to Durango, this is one tradition worth timing your visit around.

Hunting season has officially begun at Colorado Trails Ranch! 🦌
Colorado Trails partners with Peak to Creek Outfitters to offer specialized hunting trips, and you can experience them in two VERY different ways.
🐴 Go completely off-grid. Pack into the National Forest on horseback and spend five days on the mountain for a true backcountry hunting experience. Wilderness camps include canvas tents, cookstoves, kitchen supplies, and firewood.
🏡 Or come back to the ranch each night. Spend your days hunting on ranch property that backs up to National Forest, with grab-and-go breakfast and lunch available for the trail. Then return to your own ranch cabin and relax over a chef-prepared dinner in the lodge.
Right now, one archery hunter is enjoying the deluxe ranch experience, and another is heading into the wilderness with our wranglers for five days to fill his freezer with his elk tag.
We offer both guided and unguided hunts.

The bears thought the chicken coop was an easy target. They forgot about Minnie. 🐻🐶
Meet Minnie. Small dog. Big personality. And apparently, head of ranch security!
While things have been a little quieter around Colorado Trails Ranch, Minnie has been keeping a very close eye on things, including making sure a few curious bears know exactly who runs this place.
Minnie may be small, but don’t let that fool you. Ranch security is taken VERY seriously around here.
If you’ve spent time at the ranch, you probably already know Minnie. A bit of a celebrity around here, and for good reason!

A dude ranch vacation…but make it adults-only.
Yep, we have a week just for the grown-ups.
Every year, Colorado Trails Ranch hosts an Adults-Only Week — a quieter version of our Summer All-Inclusive experience, with all the ranch magic and no kids’ program.
Spend your days horseback riding through the San Juan Mountains, hiking, shooting, fishing, relaxing by the pool, or simply slowing down and enjoying life at the ranch.
Then come back to your cabin, gather around the table for incredible meals, and enjoy those beautiful Colorado evenings.
Come as a couple, bring your friends, or turn it into the ultimate group getaway.

Fall is starting to show off at Colorado Trails Ranch! 🍂
The leaves are beginning to change, which means one of the most beautiful times of year at the ranch is almost here. Peak colors typically arrive the last week of September through the first week of October… and trust us, it’s worth seeing in person. 💛
It’s also your last chance to stay with us in 2026 before the ranch closes for the season on October 10!

Two days. One very special celebration of Durango’s Western heritage. 🤠👇
On October 2, join us at Colorado Trails Ranch for a scenic two-hour trail ride through the mountains, followed by lunch from Chef Davis, live Western music, and good company in the lodge.
Then on October 3, we’ll head into downtown Durango for one of our favorite traditions of the year, the annual Cowboy Gathering Parade.
Each year, we bring our horses downtown, offer free pony rides for local kids, and join ranchers, farmers, and Native tribes from around the region as we ride down Main Avenue together.
