Shaw Solar

Building the next generation of electricians! ⚡

Micah, a student at Durango Big Picture High School, is interested in pursuing a career as an electrician and reached out to Shaw Solar to learn more.

Our own Scott Archer was happy to sit down with him, share his journey, and talk about what a career in the electrical and renewable energy industry—and at Shaw Solar—can look like.

We love seeing young people explore the trades and are always excited to share what we’ve learned along the way.

It was a pleasure helping such an iconic Durango business add solar + battery storage to the mix. We especially love hearing that the battery proved its value during the June outage!

Thank you, Maria’s, for trusting the Shaw Solar team with your energy upgrades—and thank you for continuing to invest in a more resilient and sustainable Durango. ☀️

⚡ The power went out in downtown Durango—but for some homes, the lights were still on.

Solar paired with battery storage can keep essential parts of your home powered when the grid goes down. Lights, refrigerators, Wi-Fi, and other critical loads can keep running when properly designed for backup.

☀️ Solar makes your energy.
🔋 A battery stores it.
💡 And when the grid goes down, you have backup power ready.

Outages are a good reminder that energy independence isn't just about saving money—it's also about keeping your home running when you need it most.
