Regulator Ranch

In 2019 we bought our farm home and the first ranch purchase we made was a horse trailer. We didn't have any animals that would need a trailer at the time, but we knew that someday it would be of use. Fast forward almost 7 years and we finally found purpose for it.

A friendly hello and a loud bray from the newest Regulators, Cheech & Chong 🫏

A wild burro herd roams the Kaibab National Forest at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. At times, the herd size becomes too large for the amount of water and vegetation available in their desert climate. When the herd gets too big, forest rangers round some of them up and adopt them out to loving homes.

Just three days after bringing them home, Cheech warmed up to us and demanded pets and brushes every time we stepped outside. It took Chong a little longer to adjust from life in the wild, but after just three weeks Cheech & Chong were fighting over attention from the strange, two-legged, food-delivering creatures called humans.

It's been an adventurous couple of months with the burros and we are excited for more to come!

Many summer days well spent at the lake and the river 🏞🌊

Maximus Chavez got promoted to hiking buddy this summer and he loves it! 🏞🐾

Our first round of turkeys hatched out in June! More turkeys are expected to hatch any day now 🐣 Photos include the six babies and mama cooling off in the water bucket 🦃🐥🍗

Although this post only features a fraction of our 14 dogs, here is a shout-out to the K9 Regulators! 🐾💜

Our pack of 14 includes:
•7 Colorado Mountain Dogs (Pyrenees Anatolian Shepherd mix)
•3 chihuahuas
•2 chiweenies
•1 yorkie
•1 Belgian malinois

Last fall we rescued three kittens from a friend's barn: Rupert Pupkin, Dirty Dominic DeCoco, and Beatrix Hopewell. Then in April we adopted another kitten, Mannix Bowdre, from a lovely woman who fosters feral cats just south of us in Aztec. These four kitties have brought so much joy and happiness to our house (and also great destruction 😹)
