Sometimes it's just 5 minutes, so do it! I noticed recycling (and trash) scattered about in a small area just off the soccer fields, so I focused on just the recyclables so I could take it all home to put it all in our curbside pickup. Do what you can, when you can....it will make a positive impact!

After dropping the soccer boys off at the high school, the sun shined across the parking lot....of litter. 20 minutes later, a full trash bag and recycling picked up!
Do what you can, when you can, even when the timing isn't perfect!! Just do it, because it's the right thing to do! You are the one!
Happy plogging (picking up litter while jogging) or plalking (picking up litter while walking) or drittering (driving and picking up litter) or pliking (picking up litter while biking). Choose your method...and take a couple of bags!!!

Maybe it's a little of 'preaching to the choir', but it doesn't hurt to reinforce the message....every choice has an impact....try to make yours a positive one! We all make a difference!

This is great to support, especially the teachers who are the direct connection with so many kids using the markers. Possibly each school could set up a collection bucket?!
How many of you have a basketful of markers just like this? Some work, some don’t. Did you know that Crayola recycles used markers (including other brands) so you don’t have to throw them in the trash? If you click the link I’ve provided, it will take you to the Crayola website with directions on how to send them back to their company. And guess what? They even pay for shipping! All you need to do is box them up, print out the label and send it! PLEASE pass this on so that we can spare thousands of markers being thrown in the trash. http://www.crayola.com/colorcycle.aspx

The kids had soccer practice so I thought I'd do the 1 mile loop a couple of times while I waited...hopefully do a couple push-ups along the way too.
Well, after the second loop I couldn't take it anymore! I grabbed a bag I found off the path and used it to stuff as many recyclable bottles and paper I could find...I'll take it home for our curbside recycling.
Oh yes, I cranked out 160 push-ups too!
Do your part! Do what you can!

Good morning! It has been a while since our last post, but the mission is not lost: after closing GenGreen I worked for Rumpke as the Recycling Representative for over 3 years. My job was to work with all of the commercial accounts, big and small, to help set up Recycling Programs!
Together we figured out:
-what was recyclable, how can we educate the staff
-how to encourage them to start utilizing the new recycling containers? -Where can the new containers go that is convenient to the employees using them daily and those responsible for emptying them?!
These programs usually SAVED the companies money (driving it to the landfill was more expensive than recycling it, so we reduced how big the trash container size was and/or reduced how often it was serviced!)
I'm happy to help you set up recycling at your work if: the owner/manager is open to the idea and your work generates recyclables (paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, glass jars, magazines, newspapers, cartons). I'm full of ideas and happy to offer suggestions....typically once it is set up correctly the first time, people quickly get in the habit and are happy to do it!
I did it over 200 times throughout Central Ohio, so I'm sure we can do it too!

Went to the dam tonight to exercise...came home with a full grocery bag jammed packed of discarded plastic bottles and cans. Most of them stuck between the rocks (some had clearly washed up, most had been 'hidden' in the rocks while fishing) and several more from walkers/runners/people exercising around the steps/hill. I usually come home with four or five, but this time I saw a bottle sitting down by the water to get it...next thing I knew I found a plastic bag in the water and used it to take recyclables home...come on people. We are better than this.
