Life is full of opportunities to show someone we love them. Such a loving event celebrates the choices they made, the relationship you shared, and honors the memory of your loved one.

Once the headstone has been cut and shaped, it is polished to create a smooth surface. Stones are polished using machines with varying grit levels that smooth down the surface, followed by aluminum or tin oxide powder that gives the stones a shiny finish.

When grief makes everything around you feel grey, use your family and friends as a “comfort blanket” to warm you up. They want to help and support you, so let them. Sharing tea, a simple meal, or even watching a movie together can bring you some small measure of comfort through feeling their love.

Cremations are popular because it takes up so little of your time than those of a traditional burial. It is also easier to bring the urn from one place to another. People can share and hold the remain until you decide the final step of the funeral.

“Let me know if I can help”
That phrase, though it means well, can make a grieving person feel like it’s their responsibility now to think of a way they need help, then to reach back out to ask for the help - and in the end, they rarely do. Next time, when offering support to a grieving friend, be specific. Cook and deliver a home cooked meal, come over and clean their house, or purchase a meaningful memorial gift in memory of their loved one.

Modern cremation can point to Italy in the late 1800s as its starting point, and with its rise in North America in 1913 the demand for cremation urns rose with the desire to keep loved ones close. That same sentiment remains now as it did 100 years ago, with the urn achieving the same dignity as a headstone. Send us a message here if you want to know what options we have available.

MYTH: Hospice care is expensive.
FACT: Medicare and other health insurance programs often cover the cost of hospice care in its entirety. Charitable support from the community many times allows Hospice providers to care for someone who is not eligible for hospice through their insurance coverage.
