Meet some of the people helping us tell Detroit’s story.

We’re excited to introduce our first cohort of 16 MoveDetroit Neighborhood Ambassadors. Our Neighborhood Ambassadors come from communities across the city, bringing local knowledge, neighborhood pride, and a genuine love for Detroit.

Over the next year, they’ll be taking us through the neighborhoods they call home, introducing us to favorite spots, local traditions, and the people who make each neighborhood what it is.

This is the first of three introductions, so stay tuned to meet more of the people helping showcase Detroit.

We will continue accepting Neighborhood Ambassadors into the program on a rolling basis in the year to come. Visit MoveDetroit.com to nominate someone in your community today.

Another example that Detroit moves differently ⛳️

Yesterday, Downtown Detroit became one of the most unique golf courses ever. Par 3 in the D presented by Rocket transformed the heart of the city as six PGA TOUR professionals teed off from the rooftop of the UBS Building, sending shots over Woodward Avenue to a custom-built green below.

Joined by youth golfers from First Tee - Greater Detroit and College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program , the event was a reminder that Detroit is always finding new ways to bring people together.

See you at the Rocket Classic . 🏌️‍♂️🔜

Today, we’re celebrating everything that makes Detroit, Detroit, and everyone helping shape what comes next.

Detroit shows up for books.

These are a few moments from the 9th Annual Detroit Festival of Books, where thousands of readers, writers, booksellers, and curious visitors gathered at Eastern Market to browse, discover, and connect.

From stacks of used books and conversations with local authors to longtime collectors and first-time visitors, the festival is a reminder that Detroit’s literary community is alive and thriving.

One of the best things about Detroit is how people show up for the things they love.

"Where are the jobs?"

We hear that question a lot.

The reality is that Detroit's economy is bigger and more diverse than many people realize. Tech companies are hiring. Small businesses are growing. Hospitality continues to create opportunities. Skilled trades remain in demand. Creatives are building careers, and entrepreneurs are bringing ideas to life.

The opportunities here are real, and there's room to be part of what's next.

MoveDetroit exists to tell the stories behind the city's growth and the people making it happen.

There is nothing quite like a Detroit summer.

The sound of fireworks somewhere down the block. Bike rides around Belle Isle. Meeting friends along the Riverwalk. A cookout that turns into an entire evening. Fishing and boating along the Detroit River. The sun setting a little later than you expected.

These are the moments that make people fall in love with this city.

“That variability and that interesting things are going on is what allows you to, I think, get stimulated as a person, as a company, and as somebody looking to have fun with life. This is a great place for me to do that.”

We caught up with Don Tappan, founder of Hayla AI, a Detroit based company building direct current power distribution, helping to optimize the flow of power throughout large infrastructure. 🤖

“One thing people underestimate about Detroit is our creativity and our grit. You give us a problem and we’ll figure out how to solve it.”

Detroit knows how to build things. Alisyn Malek, co-founder of Averra, is carrying that legacy forward, using advanced manufacturing to help hard tech and defense companies move faster, scale smarter, and build the next generation of technology.

Here’s what she had to say. 🚀
