Bus Connection

🏀⚽🏐 Game time is on the schedule. But did you schedule everything it takes to get there?

Ask any coach or team manager who has organized tournament travel and they’ll tell you: the game can sometimes be the easy part.

You’ve got players. Coaches. Bags. Equipment. Hotel check-ins. Early starts. Airport arrivals. Multiple venues. Traffic. And sometimes a tournament schedule that changes along the way.

That’s why a good sports travel plan needs to account for much more than the drive itself.

Our latest guide breaks down some of the details teams should consider when organizing sports transportation in Chicago and across the Midwest — including realistic travel times, equipment and storage, airport transfers, meeting points, multi-venue tournaments and cross-state travel.

One useful reminder? ⏱️ Don’t plan around game time alone. Loading the team, handling equipment, navigating traffic and getting into the venue all need to be part of the schedule.

Bus Connection supports sports travel throughout Chicago and within a 500-mile operating radius, including Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.

📖 Coaches, athletic directors, tournament organizers and team managers — save this one before your next away trip.

The venue is booked. The guest list is ready. The schedule looks perfect. Now comes the part that connects everything together.

Transportation.

In Part 2 of our guide for Chicago event planners, we continue looking at how group transportation fits into different occasions, schedules and guest experiences — and why planning how people move can be just as important as planning where they’re going.

If you organize events, group outings or experiences around Chicago, this is one of those practical details worth thinking about before the event day arrives.

Different event. Same question: how is everyone getting there?

A wedding has very different priorities from a corporate conference. A school trip looks nothing like a sports outing. And a night out in Chicago comes with an entirely different set of logistics.

But they all have something in common:

Moving a group efficiently can shape the entire experience.

In Part 1 of our guide, we look at why transportation deserves a place much earlier in the event-planning conversation — and how coordinated group travel can make major occasions in Chicago easier for organizers and guests alike.

A great event can still feel poorly organized if attendees spend half their time wondering, “Where’s the shuttle?”

Transportation is one of those event-planning details guests barely notice when it works — and immediately notice when it doesn’t.

Hotel pickups. Venue arrivals. Airport transfers. Off-site dinners. Multiple sessions. Different departure times.

There are more moving pieces than most people realize.

Our latest guide breaks down what conference and event planners should consider when organizing shuttle logistics — so transportation supports the event instead of becoming another problem to solve on the day.
