π SUMMER SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION INFORMATION IS NOW AVAILABLE!
Summer is the perfect time to help kids build confidence, water safety skills, and a lifelong love of swimming.
Mount Rainier Pool offers affordable, high-quality swim lessons with:

American Red Cross-trained instructors

Swim evaluations for proper level placement

Free practice swim times for enrolled youth participants and one parent

Scholarships and financial assistance options

Translation tools and translated swim lesson materials

A fun, welcoming environment for swimmers of all levels

Summer lesson options include weekday mornings, weekday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings. Please note that Friday evening and Saturday morning classes are already full.
π° Scholarship Deadline: June 23
Scholarships are available for residents of Des Moines and Normandy Park and can be completed in less than five minutes from a cellphone.
π Youth Summer Swim Rate starts June 22!
Kids and teens ages 3β17 can enjoy Family and Open Swims for just $3 per child through September 6. Parents can swim with their kids for just $2 per adult during Family Swim, Open Swim, and Lap Swim sessions.

Re-opening Late: Friday, June 12
Mount Rainier Pool will re-open today, Friday, June 12, at 4:00 p.m.
The pool was temporarily closed due to mechanical issues that caused lower visibility in the water. We are taking a little extra time today to remove remaining silt and improve water clarity for the long term.
The water will be clear and ready for your visit when we reopen. We will continue to monitor water quality and will provide updates if needed.

The Mount Rainier Pool will remain closed through the rest of the day (Thursday, June 11) due to a failure in the mechanics of our filtration system.
SWIM LESSON PARTICIPANTS
We will reschedule swim lessons to end on Thursday, June 25. This will ensure everyone has eight classes for this session. If you are unable to attend on June 25, please email us at [email protected] to receive a credit.
FRIDAY UPDATE

POOL CLOSED THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY
Dear Valued Customer,
Mount Rainier Pool Closure Notice β Monday, June 8
The Mount Rainier Pool will remain closed for the remainder of today, Monday, June 8, due to a filtration system issue encountered during ongoing repairs.
We anticipate providing an update regarding operations for Tuesday, June 9, by approximately 6:00 a.m. If you plan to attend the 6:00 a.m. session, please call the pool at 206-824-4722 before arriving.
Swim Lesson Participants
We will reschedule swim lessons to end on Wednesday, June 24. This will ensure everyone has eight classes for this session. If you are unable to attend on June 24, please email us at [email protected] to receive a credit.
What Happened?
On Monday afternoon, contractors were completing repairs to the poolβs mechanical systems. During this work, water circulation was temporarily interrupted, resulting in reduced water clarity.
While we are optimistic that the pool will reopen Tuesday morning, we must first verify that water clarity has returned to acceptable operating and safety standards.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to safely restore normal operations.

Thanks to support from King County Parks, Mount Rainier Pool is offering free training opportunities for people ready to build job skills, serve the community, and make a splash this summer!
Lifeguarding and swim instruction are more than summer jobs. They are flexible, meaningful opportunities that build leadership, teamwork, communication, responsibility, confidence, and real-world problem-solving skills. These are skills that stand out on job applications, college applications, scholarships, and future career pathways.
We are looking for people in our community who want to learn, grow, and make a difference. Whether you are starting fresh, building your resume, or staying certified, we will help you get the skills you need to be successful.

Many of our staff members have used lifeguarding and swim instruction as a springboard to college, the military, the trades, first responder careers, and other successful career paths. At Mount Rainier Pool, we are not just filling summer jobs. We are helping young people build skills, serve their community, and take the next step toward their future.
