✨ Volunteer Spotlight ✨

Ann has been a long-time volunteer with The Pet Project and her friendly, upbeat personality can be felt the moment you walk through our doors!

“I love volunteering at The Pet Project to help keep Central Iowa pets healthy and well-fed, and in turn, also keep their people healthy and well-fed—it’s all interconnected. Pets bring so much joy, companionship, and community to our lives, and this is a small way to pay it forward. The Pet Project community is second-to-none!”

Thank you, Ann, for your dedication to supporting our mission! 🧡

At 5 years old, Zorro has already mastered the art of living life to the fullest. Just one look at that smile and it’s easy to see why he wins hearts wherever he goes.

Like many of the pets we serve, Zorro’s family faced a season when making ends meet became a little more challenging. Through our programs, they were able to receive pet food assistance, helping ensure Zorro continued to have a full bowl and the care he deserves.

When families are struggling with rising costs and unexpected expenses, pets are often the source of comfort, stability, and unconditional love. That’s why we’re committed to helping keep pets like Zorro right where they belong—with the people who love them. 🧡

Today, Zorro is doing what he does best: riding along on adventures, sharing his signature smile, and bringing joy to everyone around him. Because every pet deserves a full bowl, a loving home, and many more happy car rides ahead. 🐶

Last week, The Pet Project provided pet food to 194 pets across our programs, helping families throughout our community keep their beloved companions fed and cared for.

Every number represents a pet who gets to stay with the person who loves them. A senior cat curled up in a favorite sunny spot. A dog eagerly waiting by the door for their human to come home. A family finding a little relief during a difficult time.

This impact is only possible because of our incredible volunteers, donors, and community partners. Thank you for helping us ensure that pets have full bowls and families can stay together.

A few of our board members recently had the opportunity to volunteer with WesleyLife Meals on Wheels, delivering meals directly to participants throughout the community. It was an especially meaningful experience because of our AniMeals partnership, which helps ensure pets in those homes receive food too. 🐱🐶🐦

Through AniMeals, we know that when we support pets, we’re also supporting the people who love them. Seeing those connections firsthand was a powerful reminder that this work is truly about more than a meal. 💚🧡

We’re grateful to our friends at Meals on Wheels for all they do — and if you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to give back, they are always in need of volunteers as well! Together, we can continue supporting both people and pets in our community.

Looking for a meaningful way to give back as a business, department, or organization? Host a pet food drive to support The Pet Project and help keep pets fed and families together in our community. 🧡

Every donation helps provide critical support to pet parents facing difficult times. With the help of community-driven food drives, we’re able to distribute hundreds of pounds of pet food each week through our programs.

Hosting a drive is easy, impactful, and a great way to bring your team together around a shared cause. Whether you collect donations for a week or a month, your support makes a real difference for pets and the people who love them. 🐶🐱🐦

Interested in hosting a drive? Send us a message or visit www.thepetprojectmidwest.org/get-involved/host-a-pet-food-drive/ to get started!
