Meet the Graduate!
Trooper Dylan Hill (ISP #217) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 7 (Fort Dodge). Trooper Hill is from Berwick, Iowa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology from Iowa State University.
Before graduating, Trooper Hill served as a Peace Officer Candidate at District 16 and completed several ride-alongs with different police departments to gain field experience. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée and family, hunting, and snowboarding.
Trooper Hill looks forward to continuing his career with the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Applications are open for our 56th DPS Academy! This academy will be unique in that it will be a combined certified and basic academy. To qualify for our certified academy, one of three conditions need to be met:
- You will need to be graduated from any law enforcement academy in the state of Iowa.
- Complete a federal level law enforcement academy.
- Complete another state's state level law enforcement academy.

Meet the Graduate!
Trooper Easton Dermody (ISP #312) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 3 (Council Bluffs). He is from Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he graduated from Lewis Central High School before playing 4 years of college baseball at Iowa Central Community College and Southern Illinois University.
Playing baseball has taught him dedication and hard work, which he’ll continue with the Iowa State Patrol. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, working out, and watching Iowa football with his friends. Trooper Dermody is excited to join the Iowa State Patrol and is committed to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Iowa.

Meet the Graduate!
Trooper Brock Cislaghi (ISP #392) recently graduated from the DPS 54th Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 6 (Spencer). Originally from Herrin, Illinois, Trooper Cislaghi began his law enforcement career with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, where he gained valuable experience in traffic enforcement and public safety.
In his spare time, Trooper Cislaghi enjoys waterfowl hunting, watching college football and basketball, fitness, and spending time with his family. He is excited to bring his dedication and experience to the Iowa State Patrol and is committed to serving the citizens of Iowa while promoting road safety.

Meet the Graduate!
Trooper Zachary Catron (ISP #68) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 16 (Capitol Complex). Trooper Catron, originally from Altoona, Iowa, graduated from South East Polk High School in 2022. He worked various jobs before becoming interested in law enforcement, at which point he applied and was accepted into the 54th Basic Academy as a recruit.
Outside law enforcement, Trooper Catron enjoys being in downtown Des Moines, spending time with family and friends, and going to local concerts. Trooper Catron enjoys going on runs in the Runnells area and reading while spending time with his cat, Munchkin.

Meet the Graduate! Trooper Lyndon Boyd (ISP #323) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 4 (Denison). Originally from Indianola, Iowa, he grew up participating in 4-H and Boy Scouts. Trooper Boyd graduated from Indianola High School and then attended Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor's in Agricultural Business in May of 2024. While at Iowa State University, he was on the rodeo team and in the rodeo club.
In his spare time, you can find him hunting, fishing, and working on his family cow-calf and feedlot operation. Trooper Boyd is excited to serve as a Trooper for the Iowa State Patrol and is committed to protecting the great state of Iowa.

Meet the Graduate!
Trooper Peter Bottjen (ISP #89) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is assigned to District 5 (Cherokee). Originally from Primghar, Iowa, he is a graduate of South O’Brien High School. Following High School, He attended the University of South Dakota, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
He began gaining experience in law enforcement as a student security officer at the University Police Department at the University of South Dakota. He gained practical insights into security and participated in ride-alongs with the University Police Department. He gained further experience as a Peace Officer Candidate within the Department of Public Safety.
Outside law enforcement, Trooper Bottjen enjoys working out, watching/playing sports, and spending time with his girlfriend, friends, and family.

Meet The Graduate!
Trooper Carson Andreasen (ISP #151) recently graduated from the 54th DPS Basic Academy and is now assigned to District 16 (Capitol Complex). Trooper Andreasen graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He went on to graduate with an associate’s degree and continued his baseball career at Southeastern Community College.
In his spare time, he enjoys turkey hunting, fishing, farming, and working out. Working on a farm, playing sports in high school, and playing college baseball taught him hard work and dedication, and he plans to carry that throughout his career with the Iowa State Patrol. Trooper Andreasen is excited to start his career with the Iowa State Patrol and ensure the safety of citizens in Iowa.
