He was an honor student, athlete, and musician. He was bright, opinionated, and affectionate. In the early morning hours of November 20, 2016 our world came to an abrupt halt. Jason ended his life. He was struggling; he asked for help, but it wasn’t enough. Good morning fb peeps. This week we got a very nice letter from Pinkerton Academy 's Band Director, Jamie Boccia. Messages like this definitely help with our continued healing process and is reassuring that our direction towards making a small difference with music was the correct choice. Thank you to all who have continued to support and share their stories.
Good morning Doug and Danielle,
I just wanted to send a quick note to share how much of a lasting legacy Jason continues to have in the PA Band program. His Ibanez, which many kids affectionately call "Floody", was played for 4 years by Declan Collins. Declan loved playing that guitar and cared for it meticulously. Declan is now heading off to study music in one of the very best music schools in the country.
At the end of the year banquet, another student said that his favorite memory from his time in the program was his first time playing Jason's guitar and how much of a lasting impact that left on him. That student is now heading off to Kansas City Community College to study music production and composition.
I hope all is well with the start to the summer and I hope to see you soon!
