This year, we lost an incredible leader, mentor, and friend — our founder, Jesús “Chuy” Medrano. Chuy’s passion for people, his relentless work ethic, and his love for the landscape industry built the foundation on which CoCal stands today.

Yesterday, National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) recognized Chuy’s lifetime of impact by awarding him the Lifetime Achievement Award — the most prestigious honor in our industry. This award reflects not only his decades of dedication to excellence but also his unwavering commitment to opening doors for others, creating opportunities, and elevating the standards of landscape professionals across the country.

While Chuy may no longer be with us, his legacy continues to grow through his three children and the incredible team he built. Together, we are committed to carrying forward his vision: cultivating excellence, leading with integrity, and investing in people — just as he always did.

Every project, every partnership, and every act of service we provide is rooted in the values Chuy instilled — hard work, humility, and heart.

It’s been a hot one in Colorado—17+ days of 90°F+ temps already, and the season’s just heating up. These Dusty Millers were feeling the burn, but after a quick irrigation fix from our team, they’re finally getting the relief they need. 💦

This kind of extreme heat takes a toll—not just on landscapes, but on people too. That’s why we prioritize safety across everything we do.

✅ We schedule smart to avoid the peak heat
✅ We train our teams to recognize and respond to heat stress
✅ And we make sure our crews, customers, and even our plants are protected

This year at SIMA 2025, we proudly sent our two Business Developers to represent our team, gain additional training, and bring back valuable insights to better serve our customers. ❄️📚
