Please stay tuned for more details as we prepare for year 18 of your Denver DYQE March!!!
Denver Pride looks a little different this year as organizers continue to adapt to the ongoing construction on Colfax. PrideFest, the largest event of Denver Pride, is leaving its longtime home at Civic Center Park and heading to 16th Street for a one-day festival June 28.
According to Kim Salvaggio, CEO of The Center on Colfax, the organization considered many locations for the new PrideFest. (Note: Salvaggio previously worked at Rocky Mountain Public Media.)
Cheesman Park, the birthplace of Denver Pride, seemed like an obvious choice to some for a new location. However, Salvaggio said the park can’t support the infrastructure and crowds of PrideFest. The event will remain free to the public.
The Denver Pride Parade, happening June 28 as well, will go down 17th Avenue instead of Colfax for the second year in a row.
“We need to be a beacon right now,” Salvaggio said. “This is the year to turn out.”
More information on new events coming to Pride this June is available at denverpride.org.
