HEALTH SURVEY
Launched just before the RRCUS National Specialty Show and highlighted during the RRCUS Health and Genetics Committee (H&G) seminars in Ocala, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Health Survey is now up and running on the OFA website.
The OFA has developed survey formatting according to breed club requirements/requests. The data generated is then collated by the OFA at no cost to the breed club.
For the future health of our breed, the committee invites everyone to grab a cup of coffee and take a few moments to complete a survey - maybe one a day if multiple dogs. It’s easy and not too time consuming - 5 to 7 minutes. If you co-own a dog(s), make certain that one owner completes the survey. And don’t forget any that you’ve lost in the past 5 years. One survey per dog, totally anonymous.
Breeders, since the age groups begin at age 0, please consider entering whelps and baby puppies who failed to thrive, identifying the reason if known. In addition H&G would appreciate if you forward this information to your puppy owners so that they may also complete surveys.

2. Click on “Browse By Breed”

AKC Canine Health Foundation
This year, we celebrate milestones that showcase the strength of our community and the progress we’ve made together. The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) is marking 30 years of advancing canine health through science, and the Rhodesian Ridgeback Charitable Foundation (RRCF) is proudly celebrating 10 years of impact.
At the same time, the Ridgeback community continues to lead the way in the fight against canine cancer.
For 2025, we are honored to announce that the Rhodesian Ridgeback Charitable Foundation and the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States are once again matching donations up to $30,000.
That means every dollar you give will be doubled up to $30,000 to power new discoveries, better treatments, and healthier futures.
Over the last three years, this campaign has raised $268,303 to fight cancer in dogs. With your generosity, researchers have delivered early detection tools, innovative therapies, and fresh hope for the dogs we love.

“Our Rhodesian Ridgebacks, like many other breeds, deserve long and healthy lives with their families. Cancer too often extinguishes that hope. Ridgebacks want you to join them in this Cancer Match campaign to put the ‘Paws Down’ on cancer. Your donation will positively double the impact.”
- Dr. Nancy Rich, Veterinarian, Rhodesian Ridgeback Breeder, and Health & Genetics Liaison for RRCF
