What would the Bible look like if women mattered—really mattered? What if the women of the Bible could tell us their stories in their own voices? David Fitzgerald talks about his new book, co-written with author Karis Burkowski, Clearly Written by Boys: A Woman’s Guide to the Bible. With humor, sharp wit, expert research, entertaining storytelling and a welcome dose of skepticism, in this talk David explores how the Bible’s authors consistently bungle women’s issues, that the Jesus of the gospels is no feminist-friendly hero, and highlights the fight against those who weaponize the Bible against us. As women are being stripped of their hard-fought rights, this crucial topic is more vital than ever. Don't miss this fun and engaging talk! Doors open at 4:30 with the talk to begin at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for Secular Hub Members and $10 for Non-Members. Please join us as we welcome David Fitzgerald to Denver. David will be speaking live at the Hub on Saturday night, September 5th as part of his book tour promoting his new book, co-written with author Karis Burkowski, Clearly Written by Boys: A Woman’s Guide to the Bible This Friday night dinner is an opportunity to get to know David in a small group setting the night before his talk. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward offsetting the cost of bringing in out of town guests to speak at the Hub. This event will be held on Friday, September 4th at 6:30 p.m. at Prost Biergarten in Northglenn (351 W 104th Ave Unit A, Northglenn, CO 80234) upstairs in their private social gathering area. Tickets will be $60 per person and include a meal at the food counter on our tab as well as a drink ticket to use at the bar. Additional beverages can be purchased individually at the bar if desired. We will start with brief showing of environmental super shorts, presented from selections of the Colorado Environmental Film Festival to honor Reiner’s commitment to altruistic activism and then immediately enjoy one of his most beloved films.
