There are moments where I still think…
“Can I really hold all of this?”
The rooms.
The expectations.
The people.
The vision.
And then I think about the version of me
who would’ve looked at this life in disbelief.
Not because she didn’t believe in me…
but because she couldn’t see this far yet.
And now?
We don’t just show up in rooms…
we create them.
We don’t just attend events…
we build spaces that shift people.
We don’t just dream about impact…
we live inside of it.
So yeah… some days feel heavy.
But it’s a weight I once prayed for.
And somewhere, a younger version of me is still like…
“Wait… this is what we do now?”

“Vision boards don’t work.”
That’s the lie people repeat when they don’t stay long enough for the story to unfold.
What doesn’t work is cutting out images without commitment.
What does work is clarity, proximity, discipline, and showing up long after the excitement fades.
I didn’t manifest a logo.
I aligned my life with the kind of rooms I wanted to be in.
I honored storytelling.
I chose patience over performance.
I stayed in motion when no one was watching.
The vision board wasn’t the magic.
I was.

standing in the room, not just pinning it to the board.
With the AMAZING (now a dear, dear friend) and Chief Content Officer .
And yes the November/December issue with on the cover lived on my board long before it lived in my hands.
Vision boards don’t work alone.
Alignment does.
Action does.
Staying true to who you are, especially when it would be easier to pivot does.
If you’re building quietly, keep going.
Your future is already watching you.

If it looks easy now, it’s because I already did the work

I don’t decide based on urgency anymore. I decide based on alignment.

Headed back home to Memphis; third row, laptop out, youngest beside me, and somehow this is where today’s work is getting done. 😂
It’s funny how life looks when you’re building something… it’s not always aesthetics and perfect schedules.
Sometimes it’s emails sent at 70 mph (as a passenger lol), strategy sessions between “are we there yet?” and realizing you packed everything except a charger
But honestly? I kind of love it.
There’s something grounding about being in motion and still making things move. Something about going home that reminds me why I work so hard in the first place.
You can have growth and family. Ambition and softness.
Momentum and rest stops. You can build big things even from the backseat.
So here’s me today:
Working, momming, dreaming, returning to my roots all at once.
If you’re out here creating from wherever you are… I feel you.
We’re making it work, and that counts.

When I stopped performing and started leading with honesty, everything changed.
For a long time, I thought “professionalism” meant perfection — polished words, controlled emotions, curated everything.
But somewhere along the way, I realized people don’t connect to perfect. They connect to real.
The moment I started leading with honesty and admitting what I didn’t know, being transparent about the process, and showing up as myself — everything shifted. My relationships deepened. My work became more meaningful. And the right opportunities began to flow naturally.
Authenticity isn’t a strategy. It’s a standard.
When did you realize that authenticity actually works?

What started as a disappointing and painful experience in 2017 turned into one of the most meaningful connections of my life.
Back then, my grandmother and I had a deeply upsetting encounter at a store, one that we both felt carried racist undertones. My husband, outraged after hearing what happened, called the store to voice our concerns. And who happened to pick up the phone? .co
Instead of brushing it off, Jordan apologized sincerely, assured us that the experience wasn’t reflective of the brand, and invited my grandmother and me back in for sips, sweets, and a color bar experience to make things right.
From that moment, we clicked instantly. Jordan even convinced me ,despite an already packed schedule in the hospitality world to join the Kendra Scott team part-time. I said yes, not realizing I was saying yes to so much more: meaningful conversations, shared dreams, and a shared passion for empowering women and giving back to the communities that shaped us.
Fast forward to this past weekend; we found ourselves in Austin, TX (shoutout to 🙌🏽) for a transformative weekend. It only felt right to visit the Kendra Scott flagship, the very place where this full-circle story began.
Here’s to turning pain into purpose, chance encounters into lifelong friendship, and continuing to build a legacy rooted in impact. Let’s keep going, Jo.

Made it look easy, it wasn’t.
Truth is, so much of what you see online skips over the messy middle (I know I talk about this a tooonnn - this season is long too) the self-doubt, the pivots, the nights where you question if it’s even working.
But here’s what I’ve learned: the struggle is where the magic is. That’s where resilience is built, clarity is earned, and confidence is forged. ✨
If you’re in a season where it feels heavy, know this: it’s not supposed to be easy, it’s supposed to grow you.
💬 I’m curious, what’s ONE thing you’ve pushed through recently that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you? Drop it below 👇 let’s normalize sharing the real side of building.

Unfortunately I do love… Instagram version

August was a reminder that energy is one of the most valuable assets we have. It’s not unlimited, and it’s not for everyone to access. Protecting it requires discernment and knowing which rooms to pour into, which opportunities to pursue, and which moments to let pass.
This past month was filled with stadium lights, rooftop views, family connections, lessons and team wins. But more importantly, it was filled with alignment: saying yes to what fuels growth and no to what distracts from purpose.
We don’t need external validation when we’re already called to the work. What we need is the courage to move with intention, to create spaces that elevate others, and to lead in a way that multiplies impact.
Here’s to carrying that forward into the next season.
