Pilot Robby
Based at KGYI and flying with Monarch Air, I specialize in multi-engine training in the Baron 58.
Focused, real-world training built to level up your skills fast.
Your first turbine initial shouldn’t be the first time you learn how to study like a professional pilot. ✈️
Initial training moves fast. The more you can make flows, memory items, IFR procedures, and chair flying part of your routine before you get there, the more bandwidth you’ll have when it’s time to actually learn the airplane.
These are a few things I wish every pilot started doing earlier in their career.
What would you add to the list?

If I had to give someone only one piece of advice to pass a checkride it would read the ACS!
It is the grading rubric you are being graded against and you need to know what you CAN and CANNOT do on your ride to pass!
Preparing for your multi-engine checkride? Check out the video I did on critical engines on my YouTube channel to make sure you are prepared to answer any question that might come your way!
I have to do a big shout-out to my old CFI, mentor, and friend, Skyler. Skyler was my single-engine CFI for instrument, commercial, CFI, and CFII. He and I have had a lot of time flying together, and he is an incredible pilot! Today he starts training for the next stage of his career, and I could not be more proud of him. It was a pleasure to fly with you, and I look forward to flying together again someday!
Enjoy this clip of Skyler's clockwork-like flying when he and I went flying in the clouds in the Baron.
When you are driving your car slowly in the parking lot, it might take a full turn of the steering wheel to make a 90º turn; however, going much faster, say on the highway, you might only need to turn it 1/4 of a turn. The same is true with airplanes. When you notice your fast-moving airplane is getting off your course, you want to start with small corrections and see if it starts trending back the other direction before making a large correction.
Don't drive on the highway the same way you drive in the parking lot 👍🏻 🚙 🛣️
Don't Over-Control Your Airplane!
Trim is your friend, I promise! You should learn to use it early and often through your aviation journey. It will make your flying much smoother and will allow you to fly with feather-light controls.
Epic Landing: Smooth Approach Down to Minimums & Perfect Touchdown!
Flying approaches down to minimums is such a satisfying feeling. It takes skill, concentration, and constant small adjustments. Skyler knocked it out of the park here!
Critical engine is a ... critical part of your multi-engine checkride. (see what I did there?? 😉)
But in all seriousness, it is a very large part of your multi-checkride and is an important factor in being a safe and knowledgeable multi-engine pilot. If Studio Ghibli made a Baron movie, I'd audition for the role. ✈️🎬 😅
