Something happens inside of me as a stylist when a client sits in my chair in tears.

When she’s upset. When she feels unheard. When she feels like she’s just another dollar in the bank account sitting in a chair.

That’s when I remember exactly why I do this.

I get to listen.
I get to educate.
I get to care.
I get to love on people.
And I get to create a little bit of magic—not just in their hair, but in how they feel when they leave my chair. ✨

Because sometimes it’s not really about the color, the extensions, the haircut, or the transformation.

Sometimes a woman just needs someone to hear her.

And when she looks in that mirror afterward and smiles because she finally feels like herself again?

THAT is my why.

This beautiful soul messaged me after seeing my Cowgirl Calico post because she wanted a change.

She thought she was booking a hair appointment.

God knew He was scheduling a divine appointment.

There are days I leave the salon exhausted from standing behind the chair. Then there are days like this that remind me why God gave me this gift in the first place.

We laughed.
We cried.
We talked about life.
We talked about Jesus.

Some people think I just do hair. The truth is, hair is simply what gets people into my chair. From there, God does what only He can do.

She walked out with a color she absolutely loves, but my prayer is that what she’ll remember most isn’t the Cowgirl Calico. It’s the reminder that she is deeply loved, seen, and never alone.

Red River Rooted + Co. was never just meant to be a salon. From the very beginning, I’ve prayed that it would be a place where people could breathe, heal, laugh, cry, and leave feeling more beautiful inside and out.

And if you’ve ever sat in my chair, you already know… the moment I say, “Hear me out…” you’re about to get the hair appointment you booked… and the Jesus conversation you didn’t know you needed. ❤️

Every client who sits in my chair is an opportunity to love people the way Christ loves us. I’ll never take that responsibility lightly.

It represents the roots my family and I are planting here—roots of faith, hard work, and legacy. Every late night, every setback, every obstacle, and every tear led to this moment.

As I sit here looking at this license, I can’t help but get emotional. It’s a reminder that God always makes a way, even when the path doesn’t make sense. Every closed door was His protection. Every delay was His preparation. Every challenge was shaping me for this season.

Obedience is everything. When God calls you to step out in faith, it won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it.

This license isn’t just a piece of paper hanging on a wall. It’s a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Sometimes you don’t recognize the blessing until it’s sitting right in front of you.
Until you truly connect with your service provider on a personal level, it’s hard to understand why these relationships mean so much to us. You’re never “just another appointment” or simply a payment sitting in my chair.
This sweet client had been trying to achieve beautiful gray blending for years without success. She had been left with banana-yellow blondes and orange tones that were called “gray blending,” but never gave her the confidence she was looking for.
Yesterday, she sat in my chair for four hours while we worked through a color correction and gray blending transformation. The moment she stood up and really looked in the mirror, tears began to fill her eyes.
In that moment, I realized I hadn’t just transformed her hair.
I had the privilege of hearing her story. We talked about life, about how God had blessed her with “her Chris,” about her job, her sweet dog, and all the little moments that make up a person’s life. In return, I was able to share how faithful God has been to me and all the ways He continues to bless me every single day.
That’s what this salon was always meant to be.
Not just a place to create beautiful hair, but a place where people feel seen, heard, loved, and encouraged. A place where conversations matter, testimonies are shared, and Jesus is welcome.
Our testimony is powerful. God opens doors we could never open ourselves, and I’m so grateful He has given me a space where I can create beautiful hair, speak Jesus, and remind people that they are deeply loved.
