Rusty Chicken at The Rialto
Best Historic Live Music Venue in North Texas! Three story theatre for our guest to explore. First floor has a swanky 1920's theatre vibe.
On the second floor visit the Velvet Rooster lounge! Our balcony is home to the Rusty Chicken Saloon!
Boy, we are catching a lot of grief so I'm going to say this and move forward:
I absolutely understand the nostalgia and love everyone has for The Rialto. I really do. I have spent hundreds of hours doing research and talking to people. Reading books, looking through pictures.
We have been inside the building since March taking out the seats that were broken and worn down. We took out galvanized metal that made the place look like a barn. We have taken out carpet that smelled like it has been here since the 80's. I have been cussed at about taking out a piece of history well let me give you some history.
The Rialto was built in 1920 and the first major change was done in 1935 with all new seating and carpet. The only thing original last is left in the building is the frame around the stage and the grates on each side. That is it! Everything else has been redone multiple times and I had to clean all of that up.
We have also had to do major repair on the building and install fire suppression system to meet city regulations and requirements.
We had to take out the entire front entrance and replace so that it now meets ADA regulation with a wheelchair lift.
We may show a movie from time to time but with the money that had to be spent on all the regulations. If this place was just a movie theater we would never make our money back. It would never repay the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on the building.
Lastly. We have stated time and time again we are not done with the renovation. Not even close. Our grand opening may not be until after the first of the new year but it was time to open and start generating money. We will utilize the building as a live music and event venue. I have had several people ask about holiday parties, corporate events and weddings. We will have comedy shows and variety shows after the first of the year.
We will not have folded seats like we currently do. We purchased velvet red couches to replace the way too small theatre chairs. We will have everything decorated more each week as time allows. Our saloon will be open and running in no time but for now we have the theatre available to come see a show.
I would like to thank all the people who have supported us so far and see the vision.
For those who just want to vent and rant about something you know nothing about. I hope you have a blessed day anyway.
We are doing our best and this is a 4 story building that needed much love and attention and we are trying. Give Grace ♥️
