The updated Comprehensive Plan, to be adopted by the Town Board in late 2021, will inform land use, development, policy, programs, and infrastructure decisions for the next 15 years. To be effective, the Comprehensive Plan must build on the shared visions and goals of our community members. In 2019,

“Dump no waste. Drains to creek.” 🐟
***
All the rain we are getting here these days? It’s gotta go somewhere… If it rains a lot, especially over a short period of time, and the water is not all naturally absorbed by plants, grass, trees, and soil, then the extra water (called “storm water runoff”) ends up flowing into these storm water drains in our streets.
***
The rain water that flows into storm water drains runs directly into nearby creeks, which flow directly into the Hudson River.
***
In order to let people know that these street drains are for clean storm water only, sometimes organizations will paint signage nearby to help educate about the purpose of these drains.
***
Have you seen any of these pavement signs around town? This one is on Elm Av, south of Delaware Av.
***
Thanks for keeping our creeks and the river clean!
