Dirty Del Rio
A page to highlight the disastrous conditions of Del Rio and the city's failure to do anything about it.

When the grass is so tall in the medians that it's above your truck window.... Does the city not own a lawn mower? Or do they only reserve them for the baseball fields?

SO. MANY. VIOLATIONS.

Lovely landscaping by Jack in the Box here in Dirty Del Rio. It's probably the councilman's favorite restaurant since it showcases their complete incompetence in keeping our city clean.

After the flood of 1998, Del Rio vowed better flood control measures to ensure such a tragedy would never happen again. These photos are the overgrown drainage areas that are supposed to help alleviate high water issues. Glad they took it seriously.
Congrats Del Rio! Your government has screwed you again! City council voted to keep the same property tax rate in this artificially inflated market. They could have voted to lower the rate to keep taxes the same, but chose to stick to the citizens instead. All properties inside city limits can look forward to about a 15-18% higher tax bill. Overall the city is looking at nearly 1.5 million in additional taxes this year. How do you think they will misappropriate it?

I'd want to close down too if I had to look at this scenery every day. The city needs to enforce property maintenance codes. Especially on the main thoroughfare in town!

Something tells me there isn't much regard for code around this place. Maybe if it was actually enforced people would respect it...

In addition to junk making our town look terrible, there are innumerable areas of overgrown and unkempt lots. Why does code enforcement not do anything about these places? Whether they be occupied or vacant, someone is responsible and gets a tax bill every year. Per city code, any overgrowth over 48" tall may be cut down by city crews without prior notice and the financial responsibility passed on to the property owner via tax lien or other means. Anything under 48" they are to send a notice to the property owner and after 10 days may pursue the same means. This is why we need real leadership in this dying town.

Welcome to Dirty Del Rio! Here we will bring you lots of images from around the Dirty D.R. to bring awareness to how the local government fails to maintain our city. We will showcase everything from failures to enforce property maintenance ordinances, subpar infrastructure to lack of upkeep on city properties. With some of the highest taxes in the state, we deserve better. Instead we get to drive through the equivalent to a 2nd or even 3rd world country while the government wastes tax dollars on absurd pet projects. Enjoy and feel free to send in submissions!
