Expanding the First Friday Art Walk is our first step to showcasing and promoting Del Rio’s rich, cultural presence.

Vida Del Rio is a new Del Rio Chamber of Commerce committee working to promote Del Rio’s cultural presence and build a vibrant art destination for our community and visitors. We aim to establish a unified culture district, coinciding with the revival of tourism showcasing our people, history recreation and arts.

Establishing the district is part of our efforts to seek a Cultural District Designation from the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA). This designation will allow every organization within our district to seek a matching grant from the TCA’s Cultural Districts Program.

Expanding the First Friday Art Walk is our first step to showcasing and promoting Del Rio’s rich, cultural presence. We will shut down Main Street between Greenwood and Canal streets, allowing vendors to sell goods or display their organization’s mission. Only vendors who contribute to Del Rio’s cultural fabric are invited to participate. The First Friday Art Walk will continue each first Friday of every month, pending weather and unexpected circumstances.

We hope Vida Del Rio’s efforts will make Del Rio a more beautiful place to live and will draw more tourism to the area. We are eager to begin stitching a quilt of community and culture to transform our city into a more vibrant, prosperous place.
