As you all know some of our members are now in college and pursuing their dream careers!! 🤩

With that said… we are very proud with each and everyone of our members!!

Today we want to give a big shoutout to Abram Ortiz 🙌

Not too long ago, we shared the news that our mariachi group would be stepping back since many of our members are now busy with college and work. Since then, even more of our members have left to continue their studies, making it even harder for us to perform regularly as a full group.

We just want to take a moment to sincerely thank you all! 🙌❤️

The love, kind words, and support we’ve received since our last announcement have meant the world to us. Every message reminded us of why we started playing together — to share our music, our culture, and our joy with this community.

While we won’t be performing regularly anymore, this isn’t a full goodbye. Whenever possible, we hope to come together during Christmas breaks and summer breaks to bring music back to you. 🎶✨

Be sure to keep following our page — we’ll post updates if and when we’re able to perform again so you don’t miss it!

Until then, we’ll hold close the memories of your celebrations, your events, and the moments you allowed us to be part of. From the bottom of our hearts, gracias for all the support and love you’ve shown us. ❤️

We are beyond proud of our very own member Amanda for being so successful in her high school journey.
We wish her the best in this next chapter of her life as she goes on to advance her career and reach her dreams.

Amanda Emmanuelle Ong

Daughter of Feliz Saldua Ong and Dennis Barrios Ong
Amanda will begin her studies at the University of Texas at Austin to pursue a major in Mechanical Engineering. Her ambition is to design innovative and affordable prosthetics or be a space suit engineer. Overall, she would like to keep learning about engineering and share her knowledge or put it to use for others. Amanda has accrued 66 college hours and has completed 10 AP classes. She has been actively involved in various organizations, including National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics Team 4063, Mariachi de Medianoche, Mariachi Del Rio, and Sacred Heart Choir. Moreover, she has held various leadership positions such as President of NTHS, Vice President of NHS, Vice President of Student Council, Outreach and Programming Captain of Robotics, 1st Chair Guitar in Mariachi, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Written Art.

Amanda’s total scholarship amount is $5,200.

One of Amanda’s fondest high school memories was during her senior season of robotics when their robot powered itself off during a match. She will also never forget when Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas showed up to be the MC at the Robotics World Championship in 2022.

Amanda extends profound gratitude to her parents for the sacrifices they have made. She promises to not let those sacrifices go to waste and she will continue to succeed in her parents and in God’s name. She is especially grateful for the endless hours her parents have devoted to building a strong educational foundation for her, even while working long, exhausting nursing shifts. She is deeply grateful to her loving parents for showing her the power of emotional and logical intelligence….and for filling their home with incredible food from both Mexican and Filipino traditions. Amanda thanks her mother for always fighting to give her the best opportunities and education possible as well as answering every last-minute call when she forgot to turn something in or needed something at school. She thanks her dad for inspiring her to be innovative and for introducing her to the joy of music. She will forever cherish every gig they have played together.

Dear family and friends,

We are saddened to inform you that Mariachi Del Rio will no longer be available for events starting the end of January. As you all know, time flies and our members are now all attending college or working towards our dream careers. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this decision has been expedited. We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
We would like to still be available for events in the summer and in December when we are all able to make it back home. We deeply appreciate all the love and support our community has showed us! We would not be where we are without you 🤎🤍
