Resident Services Corporation (RSC) was recently awarded five $1,500 garden grants for community gardens at our Reserve at Hairston Lake, Ashford Parkside/Landing Senior Residences and Reserve at Mills Creek, View and Starnes properties through Food Well Alliance. The grants are intended to address community garden needs like garden infrastructure, tools, garden materials, and/or supplies. Food Well Alliance is a collaborative network of local leaders working together to build thriving community gardens and urban farms across metro Atlanta. Their mission is to provide resources and support to local growers to connect and build healthier communities. We look forward to enjoying all the great produce, foliage and flowers that will grow at our properties! Our residents are developing into and maintaining their top-grower/master gardener status!

HADC affiliate, Resident Services Corporation (RSC), will be awarding $5,000 scholarships for both traditional and non-traditional students receiving rental assistance through the Housing Authority of DeKalb County’s Housing Choice Voucher Program. The RSC Scholarship application deadline is April 1, 2025. Eligibility and requirements are outlined on the application. HADC/RSC AWARDED HUD FUNDED FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY RENEWAL GRANT FOR 2025
HADC has been awarded HUD Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Grant renewal funding in the amount of $110,000 for 2025. In 2023, HADC was initially awarded a HUD Funded FSS Grant in the amount of $215,000 for the two-year period of 2023 - 2024. RSC is administering this program for HADC. These funds will be used to assist families in increasing their assets and improving their financial stability through the FSS program. The FSS program is a completely voluntary program offered to families in HUD assisted housing who are provided with coaching, referred to services and establish a family escrow savings account. FSS Program Coordinators provide coaching and develop local strategies to connect participating families to public and private resources to increase their earned income and financial empowerment, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward economic independence and self-sufficiency.

RSC Seniors Enjoy Senior Day at the Capitol! Georgia Council on Aging hosted Senior Day at the Capitol on February 11, 2025. It’s an annual tradition that our amazing senior residents attend this event. They enjoyed a day filled with advocacy, engagement and celebration. From meeting with legislators to enjoying lunch with friends, they’re making their voices heard! Thank you to everyone who made this event possible for our seniors – your dedication to our senior community is inspiring!

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Registration
RSC will be holding Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) registration for heating at all properties in February and March of 2025. LIHEAP is a federal program that helps low-income households pay for heating or cooling their homes. This program offers a payment of $350, $450 or $500 once per program year to be applied to resident’s home heating bills.

DeKalb County CEO Mike Thurmond's last food distribution event set for Nov. 23 Since the COVID-19 pandemic, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond has been using federal relief money to fund food distribution events for residents.
