Alan Dynin is in town and we posed in front of Opus where we met back in 2009 when we were teaching there. I'm not sure why the landlord exerted so much pressure on David Highsmith to leave. The space is still up for rent after all this time. Just pointless and so sad.

I was finally able to bring myself downtown to see what used to be Opus Music. (As many of you know, the owner, David Highsmith suffered a fatal heart attack back in February). Surreal. I peered in the window and it was still such a shock to see no more music in there. I taught there back when I first moved to Decatur and spent so many happy hours discussing music with David Highsmith. End of an era. The inventory is in storage and I sure hope somebody will be able to carry on the tradition. This leaves such a hole in the music community.
