The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) awarded a grant to Area 18 Cooperative for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program through the Center of Transportation Safety, which took place at Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District (MSD). This program was offered to Adams and Wells County high school seniors.

The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that McMillen Health in Ft. Wayne was recently awarded a grant to provide preventative health education sessions to Adams County preschool to senior high school students.

McMillen Health presents a variety of classes that teach general health, nutrition and fitness, drug, alcohol, and to***co prevention, brush-oral health education, social and emotional health, human growth, and development. Youth programs are available in Adams County’s classrooms through outreach, online with interactive distance learning, prerecorded for weather related closures via E-Learning and at the McMillen Health Center for field trips. The programs align with Indiana and National Academic Standards and measure student knowledge gained. Fairchild added that this grant provided preventive health education program sessions to 75+ Adams County youth in grades preschool -12.

Nate Fellman, McMillen Health grant writer, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for the support to help Adams County students learn about living a healthier lifestyle. Lettie also noted that this grant provided four preventative health education sessions to 167 Adams County students.” K

This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the Marcus Moses and John & Sadie Snow Community Enrichment funds.

The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) recently awarded a grant to Community Harvest Food Bank for Adams County Farm Wagon Program. The Farm Wagon Program makes weekly stops in Adams County to distribute fresh produce, dairy products, and other healthy foods directly to families in need with a drive-through distribution. In Adams County, the Farm Wagon distributes food on Wednesdays at 9:00am at the Don Ray Memorial Park (115 Memorial Dr., Monroe, IN). The Farm Wagon distributions generally last about one hour and is on a first come, first serve basis.

Nehemiah Godsey, Community Harvest Food Bank grant writer, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for this support which has provided 206,586 pounds of food to Adams County families in need in 2024. Louise Ray, ACCF board president and grants committee member noted that the ACCF is pleased to be able to support Community Harvest Food Bank and their efforts to provide food to families in our community.

This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the John & Kay Boch Fund. John Boch was the Decatur postmaster and Kay Boch was the owner of the popular ‘Kiddie Shop’ on Second Street in Decatur. Though deceased, they are leaders in the philanthropic giving in Adams County. Establishing a supporting organization in the ACCF in 1996, this fund has provided stability to the Foundation. Growing the fund to over $5,000,000, nephew Robert Boch was very dutiful as he managed the investment and the distribution of the grants and scholarships.

The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that Indiana Women in Need (IWIN) Foundation has recently awarded a grant for Adams County Survivor Support. Indiana Women in Need provide support for women experiencing breast cancer. With this grant award, IWIN provided support to Adams County Cancer patients with necessary items need for their treatment and to help with other experiences. This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the Elizabeth ‘Liz’ DeVoss Community Enrichment Fund.

Elizabeth “Liz’ DeVoss Memorial Fund was established by ‘Liz’s’ friends, Dan and Bette Ross. They report that Liz made a significant impact in many people’s lives in Adams County. The average person would never know this as she worked with a special group of people who tried to keep their abuse confidential and lives private. Elizabeth was a tireless fighter for crime victims. Her of work centered around women and children.
