Another epic LEO workshop with Riverdale PD. Today was even better than last week because we had our Harvey there. He was representing Gracie Decatur and his role as Executive director of POST.

Look forward to returning next quarter.

Memorial Day Seminar Fundraiser in support of the We Defy Foundation

Train with Purpose. Roll for a Cause. Join us for a BJJ seminar supporting veterans through the We Defy Foundation, empowering combat veterans through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Open to ages 13 and older.

$25 Minimum Donation (will be    collected on day of the event) - 

Your donation helps provide life-changing Jiu-Jitsu training for combat veterans.

All Academies and ranks welcome. Two plus hours of instruction followed by training.

Coach Vivi and I were grateful to be able to share Gracie Jiu-jitsu with middle school girls from the Museum school today. The young ladies were engaged and asked some great questions as we focused on distance management and boundary setting.

Coach Lucian and I had an epic evening teaching Gracie Jiu-jitsu to Riverdale Police department. Back at next Monday for the officers that could not make it tonight. Four hours of survival and controls to help them get home safe while keeping their citizens safe.

Another epic day at Gracie Decatur. Had several of our advanced program students level up, next up Purple for our Judo black belt and collegiate wrestler. Love to see successful martial artists invest the time and energy to learn Gracie Jiu-jitsu. Mike, Mark Anthony, Kathleen, Denzell and Josh.

Any guesses which one is a second degree black belt in Judo and which was a collegiate wrestler?

Excited for our friend Coach Kesean moving to Berlin for work. The last several years you have been a huge force in our school. From tough rolls to key insights and becoming a certified Instructor. This is not a goodbye it is until next time. Have an epic experience and we look forward to sharing the mat with you again in the future.

Your Jiu-Jitsu journey has taken an exciting turn, the journey continues...

Yesterday I was humbled and moved at Captain Phillips' funeral. It was truly a celebration of his life not a mourning of our loss. One of our first students in 2019, Capt. Phillips was a driving force in creating our school culture. His focus on inspiring and helping others showed on the mat. New students, law enforcement, kids he lifted everyone up. To hear others speak of him the recurring theme was he was always there to help others while making time to focus on his own development.

You were taken away too soon. Your work in the community, encouraging LEO to train Jiu-jitsu, leadership groups, your family and your Gracie Decatur family will miss you.

Capt. Phillips I am honored to call you a student, a friend and a brother. We will honor you by living your creed of always improving yourself and lifting up others around you.
