Dogs’ strong sense of smell and taste can often lead them to eat things they shouldn’t. Some dogs are more prone to doing this than others, but all dogs have the potential to eat something that could be dangerous, whether it’s toxic human foods and medications or something non-edible, like detergents or plastic. This is just a shortlist of everyday things to monitor your pet around. As a pet owner, it’s a good idea to educate yourself on household hazards and ways to pet-proof your space. But if you suspect they’ve eaten something they shouldn’t have, don’t delay. Bring them to your closest emergency vet as soon as possible.

The right care can make a world of difference 💚

Bombur was found in a shelter and was assumed to have been hit by a car. After being adopted and brought in for care, the owners were surprised to find that he had actually been living with an undiagnosed skin condition caused by an overreaction of the immune system to an allergen.

Now, after 6 months of treatment and collaboration with a team of veterinarians, Bombur is thriving.

Welcome and say hello to our new Veterinarian, Dr. Kristen Williams. We are excited for Dr. Williams to join our team and we look forward to seeing your pets for care.

"Dr. Williams a native of the Hospitality State, was born in Jackson, Mississippi. She started her Veterinary career as an animal and Poultry scientist at Tuskegee University, then earned her Doctorate in Veterinary medicine from Mississippi State University. She initially served as a Public Health Veterinary Medical Officer with USDA but wanted to help her community more intimately in the clinics. She now fully indulges in her passions as a general practitioner with interest in Dental care, soft tissue surgery, and dermatology. She is confident, compassionate, and skilled in her contributions to pet health care and wellness services to ensure pets live long, happy, and healthy lives. When not at work, Dr. Williams loves to travel with family and friends, hike the many gorgeous nature trails of Georgia, and attend local arts and food festivals-- at least when she's not cuddling with her rambunctious orange cat!"
We are thrilled to have Dr. Williams on board and we look forward to the many contributions she will make to Thrive Decatur, our clients, and the regional community. Please join me in extending a warm welcome as she begins this new chapter of her career.
