SIU Decatur Family Medicine Residency Program

This month was filled with awards and recognitions for SIU Decatur Faculty. Congratulations goes to Dr. John Bradley and Dr. Nicole Tenegra!

Dr. John Bradley, MD, former Program Director of the SIU Decatur Family Medicine Residency, was recognized at the 2026 SIU Department of Family & Community Medicine retreat for his contributions to the School of Medicine by Dr. Jerry Kruse, MD, Dean of SIU School of Medicine. Dr. Bradley received the Harbinger Award from Dr. Kruse.

Dr. Nicole Tenegra, MD, MBA was recognized at the Alliance of Women in Medicine and Science (AWIMS) 9th Annual Professional Development Conference with the 2026 AWIMS award, “in recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of women in medicine and science.” She is pictured with Dr. Vidhya Prakash, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the SIU School of Medicine and Director of AWIMS.

Recently, PGY-2s Dante Betti, DO, and Mohammud Baleegh, DO, presented their research projects at the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) annual meeting in Seattle, Washington. Both projects were co-authored by SIU Family Medicine Decatur graduate Nikhil Vatti, MD, CAQSM.

A simulation day with Millikin University - School of Nursing is always a great one. With our partnership, nursing students, physician assistant students, medical students, and MD/DO Family Medicine residents participated in inpatient and outpatient scenarios in collaborative environments led by interprofessional facilitators.
