Before the projects and the finished rooms, there were sketchbooks. A city that taught us to look closely — Paris, where it began. Late nights, long friendships, and a shared conviction that how something is built matters as much as how it looks.⁠

Ili and Luly came up alongside a remarkable class of designers, and that community has never really dispersed — it’s grown, branched, and left its mark all over the Southeast. So much of what this city looks like today traces back to those early rooms full of ideas. The practice became Terracotta Design Build. And two decades on, we’re still chasing the same thing we chased in those early drawings: the honest detail, the material that ages well, the room that feels inevitable once you’re standing in it.⁠

The hardest-working room in the house can also be the prettiest 🥐🫖 Tucked just off the main kitchen of our Buckhead Ranch Renovation, this dreamy scullery goes bold where the kitchen keeps it classic — deep blue cabinetry, brass shelving, and a botanical wallpaper that makes prep and cleanup feel a lot less like a chore.⁠

This Decatur project involved a thoughtful renovation of the main living spaces, including this lovely yet outdated living room. Rather than major structural changes, the focus was on subtle yet impactful design details that breathe new life into each space. New furniture pieces highlight the owners existing pieces from their travels and ruch materials that encourage lounging in the space. The fireplace got a functional makeover with a bright Bunglehouse Blue color from Sherwin-Williams that makes it pop, while new sconces from Visual Comfort & Co. were added above the windows to frame the space and create a glowy ambiance.

The transformation was a much-needed refresh, turning the home from dull and outdated to vibrant, welcoming, and full of character!

This Decatur home started as a modest brick ranch (swipe for the before) and became something entirely new — a Tudor with real architectural presence. A new arched entry, high-pitched rooflines, board and batten siding, and a painted white brick finish gave it a sophisticated European sensibility, while the original chimney was extended to work with the new roof.
Around back, the new dining room addition is a jewel box wrapped in Farrow & Ball Off-Black — bold, modern, and right at home against the black accents throughout.

This Decatur bedroom came together through a thoughtful mix of the homeowners’ existing pieces, repurposed in unexpected ways and anchored by a refined color palette that ties everything together. Personal touches, collected finds, and just enough symmetry to make the whole room feel intentional without feeling arranged.⁠

In the bathroom, a bold, colorful tiled feature wall behind the vanity makes an immediate impression — balanced by a carefully considered palette that keeps the space feeling serene. The arched shower ceiling, lined in classic tile and finished with a black penny tile border on the floor, brings genuine character and charm to a brand new bathroom.⁠
