After all the hard work of rebuilding the buggy and a new fresh engine, the National Rock Racing Association season opener was here, and I was pumped! Our opening day was going to be at Winrock off-road Park in Oliver Springs, Tennessee and what made this race so special is that I had friends that were going to get there early so we could do a bunch of riding around the 80,000 acre park. We loaded up and drove all night to get there and arrived early Thursday morning. We unloaded the rigs and everyone fueled up and we hit the trail and wheeled until supper time, and we all got to eat good food around the camp fire and talk about what a blast we had wheeling. Friday was UTV’s racing and so my broadcasting duties with Rock Racing TV and the live show.

On, Saturday was race day and you could feel the excitement in the air, everyone was so pumped for the season opener, and the crowd was packed in! We had new racers, we had returning racers, new buggys and rock bouncers will all sorts of upgrades. The Hyperactive Rock Bouncer had a new motor with all sorts of upgrades, and it was al set to go! The first course was a couple of steep climbs and sharp turns with trees everywhere. The bouncer sounded awesome and as I pulled into the Raceline starting gate I was super excited to get the first course of the year underway. The buggy took off and as soon as I cleared the first rock pile I matted the gas and clicked to second so I could have as much momentum as possible for the first steep mountain climb, the buggy was bouncing like crazy and the motor screamed, I made it and then turn the sharp corner to head back down, I could feel the rear end, kicking up as I rolled down on my front wheels only, then turn sharp left and launched up the next hill. After getting to the top, I had to make a quick three point turnaround, then race down to the finish line.

Course two, came a little later in the afternoon, and we were pushing to get done before the rain set in. The day had been perfect, and we were trying to keep it that way! We topped off the fuel and check the air pressure in the tires and made sure we were still ready to go, The buggy felt good and our ADS shocks were handling the course very well and I am very happy with them. There was a few rock ledges that we were going to hit with some speed to make it up and keep the momentum going. And the steep downhills have caused bouncers to roll before so I was cautious, but getting two finishes felt great for the weekend! It was an awesome weekend and thanks to everyone who came out to support us!
