Natural living is literally at our finger tips? Some people actually make salads out of weeds, but don’t worry, I haven’t one that far. 😆
Homesteading is simply a lifestyle of self-sufficiency.
“It is characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of food, and may also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craftwork for household use or sale.”
Starting from scratch can be intimidating but don’t overthink it. Bake some homemade bread or harvest your basil from summer and freeze for the Fall and winter season. I have simply begun by planting seeds for the Fall like collards, lettuce, carrots, onions, radishes and spinach, and lettuce. Not difficult at all!
So what going on this week? Fermentation is!
It’s the newest addition to homesteading for me and I’ll be attempting Kimchi and sauerkraut. These were never my favorites so I actually avoided them, but having it homemade makes a huge difference.
So why fermentation?

Sourcing greens from my backyard is so rewarding but as a newbie, my plants are babies, so I enjoy supporting local farmers in my community. This is a fast way to get started if you are just like me but don’t have much crop.
