Visited Jeff’s grandfather recently and got to see the kumiko piece Jeff made for him a few years back. Love the choice to leave the design less finished in some panels for a bit of interest.

Jeff has been working on this Japanese kumiko piece for over a year now and just put the finishing touches on it yesterday. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift to his parents last year but we were both woefully unaware of the time that a piece like this actually takes. Since then Jeff has learned many techniques and shortcuts for making this process easier and faster; I’ll be sharing those along with some “making of” photos in another post.
