3S Homestead

Y’all-it is still HOT in Texas so we took over 10 gallons of water today for our goose ambassador’s debut. Even after her “pool” was filled, she “played” in the water, and we cupped it in our hands to drip over her to keep her cool, we still had a LOT of water left.
It would have been super easy to just pour it out quick like and be done with our day BUT we don’t like to let resources go to waste so we filled up gallon jugs and used it to water our still alive but not thriving garden. In the last three summers, we have learned that in this crazy heat, if you keep watering the plants, they will flower and fruit one more time before the first frost hits…come on green friends….hang on just a lil bit longer!
How is your garden holding on…by a thread…sheer willpower….the Grace of Our Lord God…totally given up….already planning the Fall garden….which one applies?

A special shout out and thank you to Keller Public Safety City of Keller Government for the two exceedingly polite and respectful officers who stopped by to keep us all safe (your service is appreciated) and to stay to say hi, hold a goose for the first time and reassure our more timid kiddos who wanted to pet Henrietta that you can trust a police officer. It was absolutely charming to witness and we here at 3S Homestead were completely impressed with the young officers! Please send them back over to the Keller Farmers Market anytime!!!

Just look at that smile Officer Smith’s face-I’m not sure who enjoyed the goose more…him or the kids!!!

Y’alll….who knew a pet goose could bring so much joy to people…well…we sure do like her and have spent a ton of time making her the chillest goose in several zip codes….AND….it seems that a whole BUNCH of the folks at the Keller Farmers Market do too! Thank you to everyone who absolutely made our day at the Veteran's Liberty Ranch booth today when you brought your kids (and some of you adults, too) to pet and learn more about our African Goose, Henrietta!
