In 1997, after cuts were made to publicly funded day programs for people
suffering from mental illness, The Friendship Center of Atlanta was born. Its
mission: to promote the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of adults
marginalized by the intersecting conditions of poverty, chronic mental illness, and
disability. Through day programs, the Center offers wellness and recovery
services, creative arts and skills development programs, and recreation and
relationships activities.
Support this wonderful organization by purchasing unique, handcrafted gifts
made by members of the Center, as well as lovely plants members have grown
and tended. https://www.friendshipcenter-atlanta.org/

NDPC’s own Karen Weaver uses crochet to create hot pads, dish rags, and the
best scrubbies, known for gently removing even the toughest stains from your
pots and pans. This year all proceeds will be split between two fantastic
organizations: El Refugio, which provides help and support to immigrants
detained at Stewart Detention Center, and Stone of Hope, which honors the
legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Grab your scrubbies before they sell out – and
don’t forget, they make great stocking stuffers! https://elrefugiostewart.org/ and

Buy fresh pecans and other goodies from the Koinonia community!
“From the beginning in 1942, Koinonians emphasized the brotherhood and sisterhood of all people. When we could afford to hire seasonal help, Black and White workers were paid a fair, equal wage. Our commitment to racial equality, pacifism, and economic sharing brought bullets, bomb and a boycott in the 1950s as the K*K and others attempted to force us out. We responded with prayer, nonviolent resistance, and a renewed commitment to live the Gospel. We created a mail-order business, which continues to sustain our community today.”
Koinonia Farm – Feeding the Hungry, Physically & Spiritually We are a community sharing a life of prayer, work, study, service, and fellowship, doing our best to live a life rooted in the Sermon on the Mount, serving others, and offering a warm welcome to all.
