Pilot Club of Decatur

We're up early today for Pilot of Decatur's annual golf tournament! Chick-fil-A, Texas Longhorn Steakhouse, Pepsi, Coke, and a whole bunch of local Decatur businesses have partnered with us to make it a great day for our golfers. We're all hands on deck for this big fundraiser that supports Decatur Police Department, Alabama's Project Lifesaver, among other things. It's going to be hot, but no rain on the horizon!

Nice shout-out from Decatur Police Department, Alabama! We love our community and the fine folks who support it.

Project Lifesaver is a safety program dedicated to locating missing individuals with cognitive conditions who are prone to wandering and become lost. Because of the Pilot Club of Decatur's dedicated fundraising efforts, we are able to provide the program to our community at no cost.

On Saturday, June 27, the Pilot Club will be hosting their 21st Annual Golf Tournament. ⛳ The tournament provides a great opportunity for residents to support the club's safety initiatives. Proceeds will benefit Project Lifesaver. There are still spots available for teams!

It's exciting to pair with local groups to help our community! The old saying, "Many hands make light work" couldn't be more true. When we all do a little, great things happen.

Stopped by The Olive Garden for lunch and to pick up some gift cards to use as door prizes at our upcoming golf tournament this month. Our server, Ally, was so impressed about our club's purpose that she contributed her tip money to buy an additional gift card to give away. Feeling the love! (And we left her a great tip, LOL!)

Some of our club members spent the weekend at beautiful Camp ASCAA on the banks of Lake Martin. It was a gorgeous setting, and the weather really cooperated.

We were specifically volunteering at TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) Camp along with other Pilots from clubs throughout the state. TBI Camp is a big project for Alabama District Pilot International and we enjoyed socializing with our fellow members as much as helping our campers have a steller experience.

Pictured is the view of the lake from the deck of the main building/dining hall. The camp included hay rides, putt-putt golf, a talent show, arts & crafts, and a multitude of other activities. Many campers have been attending this weekend camp for years and were excited to come back and see their friends. What a great experience for all of us!

We were grateful to have Sheriff Ron Puckett speak to our club about ways to avoid frauds and scams (hint: HANG UP YOUR PHONE WHEN PEOPLE ASK YOU FOR MONEY!). It was kind of Sheriff Puckett to provide his time and we learned a few things that will help protect us. Win-win!
