Macon County Animal Control
Macon County Animal Control is a division of the Macon County Sheriff's Department.
We provide Animal Control services to all of Macon County and the city of Decatur. We also place animals up for adoption in the hopes of finding homes for the hundreds of stray and surrendered animals that come into our facility every year.

Got mice? 🐭 Macon County Animal Control has a few spicy little kittens looking for the perfect barn home! 🐈
These kittens are estimated to be around 4–5 months old and may not be the cuddly couch-cat type, but they could make excellent barn cats with a safe place to call home, regular food, and shelter.
All kittens will be spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines before adoption.
If you’re looking for a barn cat — or maybe even 4 — give us a call today at 217-425-4508 option 3! 🐾

Celebrating Animal Control Appreciation Week
This week, we are taking a moment to recognize the dedicated individuals who serve our community with compassion and bravery. Our animal control wardens and shelter staff are on the front lines every day, ensuring the safety of both our residents and the animals who call Macon County home.
We want to extend a sincere thank you to: Warden's Boulware, Clem, Sheets, Cline, Homer & Mahaffey.
We also want to give an honorable mention to retired Sgt. Smith, whose years of service helped build the foundation of the care we provide today.
Beyond those in uniform, there is a dedicated group of people working tirelessly behind the scenes at the shelter. From administrative tasks to daily animal care, your efforts do not go unnoticed.
Whether it is responding to a call in the middle of the night, reuniting a lost pet with its family, or providing a gentle hand to a frightened animal, your work truly makes our community a better place to live.
Please join us in thanking these local heroes for everything they do!

📣 Calling all small dog lovers! 🐾❤️
We currently have several small dogs at the shelter who are searching for something they may have never truly known before… *love*. These little ones may be small in size, but their hearts are ready to grow big with the right person by their side.
Many of them likely didn’t have the best start in life, so we are looking for **patient, compassionate adopters** who are willing to give them the time, understanding, and love they deserve. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who will blossom right before your eyes. 🌼
If you’ve been thinking about opening your home to a dog in need, this could be your sign.
Apply online today at dmcasf.org

While we may not always be able to post and recognize each donation individually, please know how much we truly appreciate each and every one of you.
We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for standing with us and supporting our mission 🐶🐱💛
