Our Fourth Annual Hoosier Pattern Pour has been moved to Friday, September 18th this year. There were multiple factors in the decision to move the Pattern Pour to later in the year, including the risk of unpredictable weather, the earlier timing of sunsets in the fall, and the opportunity for the classes from Bellmont and Adams Central that participate in creating the scratch molds to attend.
We plan to light the cupola around 4:30pm, with the goal of having the first tap at 5:00pm. We are still going to offer scratch molds to the public, and we will also be having the workshop led by one of the artists in the afternoon before the event.
More details about the scratch molds and the event will continue to be posted in the coming weeks leading up to the Pattern Pour.

Last week was the 7th Annual Adams Wells Manufacturing Alliance (AWMA) Signing Day. This event brings together graduating high school seniors who will continue working for their current employers through their work-based learning program, CTE program, or internship. Just as athletes sign a letter of intent to play for a college, this event has students signing a letter of intent to continue working for their respective business. The students are joined by their trades teacher, parents, and their employer sponsor. This year's event included 12 students and the guest speaker was Ron Harnish, Norwell's Work-Based Learning Instructor/Coordinator and Business Teacher.
Wyatt Mann, who will be graduating from South Adams High School, has been working part-time with us since June 2025 as a CNC Set-Up Associate, and Konner Colwell, who will be graduating from Bellmont High School, has been working part-time with us since April 2026 in our Benching and Rigging area. We are excited to have these two continue to work for us full-time in the near future!

Last Friday, we sponsored a table for the annual Junior Achievement Serving Decatur/Monroe Purse Bingo, and some of our employees joined the event. Although some of our employees who attended had no luck at winning a purse, they still had a great night at the community event!

On March 22nd we suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Hoosier Pattern family. Ron Cox worked in our benching and rigging department for 18 years before retiring in December 2023.
Ron loved the patternmaker trade and worked in it for nearly 50 years, carrying a vast knowledge of the foundry industry. It wasn't surprising to see Ron working on a Saturday after a full week of work or working part-time at Core Tech, he worked at Cole Pattern for 32 years before joining Hoosier Pattern. After retirement, he continued to come in and work part-time when he could.
Ron was also incredibly kind to everyone who stopped to talk to him and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed teaching the art of patternmaking and was generous with his time and talents.
His loss is felt throughout the shop, and to remember him, we had a catered lunch with Ron's wife, children, and family members, as well as previous Hoosier Pattern employees and former co-workers from Core-Tech. We spent the lunch remembering Ron and the impact he had.

Earlier today we joined Bellmont High School students at Adams Woodcrest who started the Kozy Koda initiative in their economics class. Koda is the Decatur police officer's K9 dog who walks the halls of Bellmont during the school day. There is a cost to keeping a K9 at the police force, so the students came up with the Kozy Koda idea, where plush golden retriever Koda's would be sold in the community to raise money. When Keith heard about this project, he ordered 143 Kozy Koda bears to be sent to the nursing home. The only thing Keith asked was that the kids head out to Woodcrest to explain the project and to personally hand out the plush Kodas, making it a meaningful memory for both the students and the residents.

This morning we had a first-of-the-year carry-in brunch for all the employees. We want to thank everyone who brought in items and our maintenance team for making the French toast before the brunch!
