Paint brushes were flying and creativity was in full swing at yesterday’s paint night 🎨💥 Led by Calhoun art faculty Tara Segars, the night was packed with color, laughs, and unique artistic twists. No two paintings were the same and that’s half the fun!
We are getting SOOOOO excited as our Fine Arts students prepare to travel to Birmingham to compete in the 2026 SkillsUSA Alabama Conference. As they prepare, we are having them complete mock experiences in their areas. Here's the Video Production Mock Experience practice :30 commercials, where teams (Myia Culp/Will Hamption, and Jae Craig/Tyler White) were challenged to create a :30 commercial for Calhoun Fine Arts, focusing on the programs and creating a Pathway for the Future. We are so proud of this prep work, and know they are going to do even more amazing work next week at the state competition.
Go Warhawks!!!!

The event celebrated the creativity and hard work of our student artists and gave everyone a chance to come together and recognize some truly great work. Visual Arts faculty, Jax Vadney and Josh Vincent, made their way to Calhoun’s Huntsville campus this morning to install an art show for the Writing Conference. All pieces were inspired by the Calhoun Common Read book, Bite by Bite, a book written by Aimee Nezhukumatathil. Here’s just a couple of views of the studio art pieces on display. Also on display was a video showing Digital Photography pieces (Still Life and Product Photography) and Digital Illustrated Fruit Mascot characters. We are so excited to have our students’ work on display! Thanks to Art Instructors Tracie Bradford and Tara Segars for curating the pieces that were included from studio art classes.

Super excited to share some of the Animal Buttons our Visual Communications students designed and illustrated for VCM 172 Digital Illustration class with Ms. Jax. Learning to use Adobe Illustrator, students were tasked with creating a series of 5 Animal Face buttons, focusing on applying what they have learned so far in creating shapes and characters. They look amazing! 🤩
